August 10, 2026 — Immunofoco today announced that Dr. Josep Tabernero, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) and Head of Medical Oncology at Vall d’Hebron University hospital in Barcelona, Spain, has joined the company’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
Dr. Tabernero is a globally recognized leader in medical oncology, translational medicine and gastrointestinal cancer research. He serves as Chairman of Cancer Core Europe (CCE). He previously served as President of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) (2018–2019) and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Academy in 2025.
As a member of Immunofoco’s SAB, Dr. Tabernero will provide strategic guidance on clinical development, translational research, and global development strategies for the company’s cell therapy programs. His work in gastrointestinal oncology aligns closely with Immunofoco’s focus on solid tumor cell therapies.
